The Graduate Route allows international students who have completed a UK degree (Bachelor's or Master's) to stay and work — or look for work — for 2 years. PhD graduates get 3 years. No job offer is required, and you can work in any industry at any level.
Most UK universities require IELTS 6.0–6.5 overall for undergraduate programmes and 6.5 for Master's. The UK Student Visa (B2 UKVI IELTS) requires a minimum overall band of 5.5. PTE Academic is also widely accepted.
Yes — most UK students can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during holidays. This is permitted under your student visa conditions and helps cover living expenses, especially outside London.
Dependants (spouse and children under 18) can apply for a UK Student Dependant visa if you are a government-sponsored student, or if you are studying a postgraduate programme at an approved university. Dependants may work full-time in the UK.
The IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge) gives you access to the National Health Service — the UK's public healthcare system — for the duration of your visa. The student rate is GBP 776 per year, paid upfront with your visa application. It covers GP visits, hospital treatment, and emergency care.
After graduation, use the 2-year Graduate Route to find a skilled job, then switch to a Skilled Worker Visa (sponsored by your employer). After 5 continuous years of lawful residence in the UK on eligible visas, you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR — settlement).
